Akhmedov And Espadas Battle To Brutal Draw In Main Event

Sadriddin Akhmedov (15-0-1, 13 KOs) and Elias Espadas (23-6-1, 16 KOs) fought to a split decision draw on Saturday night at the Commerce Casino Events Center, delivering a technical and hard-hitting 10-round war in front of a raucous Southern California crowd.

Both junior middleweights showed sharp adjustments throughout—changing angles, shifting footwork, and throwing with intent. Akhmedov, trained by Abel Sanchez, surged late, trying to close the show, but Espadas, under Manny Robles, timed crisp counters to neutralize the attack.

Scores came in at 96-94 for Akhmedov and 95-95 twice. Neither man left satisfied, but both earned respect in a brutal chess match fought at a high level.

Umar Dzambekov Crushes McEwen Early

Umar Dzambekov (11-0, 8 KOs) wasted no time flattening Sonny McEwen (11-2, 7 KOs) in the first round of their scheduled eight-round light heavyweight fight.

After dropping McEwen early, Dzambekov poured it on, forcing a stoppage at 2:17 when McEwen couldn’t answer the storm. The southpaw’s crushing power was too much for the Hawthorne native, who showed heart but no answer.

Roxy Verduzco Shuts Out Maltez To Stay Unbeaten

Roxy Verduzco (4-0, 1 KO) stayed perfect, dominating Jessica Radtke Maltez (1-2-1) across six rounds to grab a wide unanimous decision.

Working behind a crisp jab and mixing up the angles, Verduzco swept the scorecards 60-54 across the board. After a flashy Easter-themed weigh-in, Verduzco backed it up in the ring, showing she’s got the technical polish to make real noise at featherweight.

Jaybrio Pe Benito Outpoints Gutierrez In High-Paced Scrap

Jaybrio Pe Benito (6-0, 4 KOs) kept his unbeaten run alive, controlling a scrappy six-rounder against Sebastian Gutierrez (6-3-1, 4 KOs).

Trained by Freddie Roach, Pe Benito used clean counters and smart ring generalship to edge out Gutierrez, who had moments of success pressing forward. Judges scored it 59-55 twice and 60-54, all for Pe Benito.

Adan Palma Crushes Villafuerte To Stay Perfect

In a clash of unbeaten super bantamweights, Adan Palma (11-0, 7 KOs) stopped Alfredo Castro Villafuerte (10-1, 7 KOs) early in round three after hurting him late in the second.

Palma’s body attack wore Villafuerte down, leading to a knockdown that ended it at the 33-second mark of round three. Palma’s controlled aggression continues to turn heads at 122 pounds.

Prelims: Robledo Impresses, Aviles Continues Knockout Run

Jason Robledo (1-0) made a successful pro debut, outboxing Nesly Trezile (1-3) across four rounds to earn scores of 40-36 twice and 39-37.

In the flyweight division, Diego Aviles (3-0, 3 KOs) needed less than a round to stop Robert Ledesma. Aviles has now stopped all three of his opponents inside the first round, flashing serious early finishing instincts.
