Ashton “H2O” Sylve vs. Nicolas Polanco: Young Star Reloads for War in Georgia

By Tim Smith - April 22, 2025 - 8 comments

It’s back to business for H2O: Saturday, April 26 at Gateway Center Arena, College Park — starting at 7:00 p.m. local / 7:00 p.m. ET / 12:00 a.m. BST — live on BLK Prime PPV.

One prodigy. One veteran. One night to set the record straight.

Sylve’s Reset

Ashton “H2O” Sylve (11-1, 9 KOs) isn’t hiding from the truth.

One loss doesn’t erase the talent. It sharpens it.
The kid from Long Beach who turned pro at sixteen, rattled off ten straight knockouts, and electrified every arena he stepped into — he’s still here.

The loss to Lucas Bahdi last July hurt. But it didn’t break him.

“God’s plan. Everything happens for a reason,” Sylve said this week. “You’ve got to take your losses like you take your wins.”

Now 21, Sylve’s coming back not just bigger and badder — but smarter.

“I don’t have something to prove — I already know who I am. I’ll just be showing the world.”

His team, led by father Ivan Sylve, isn’t sugarcoating anything either.

“This isn’t about bouncing back,” Ivan said. “This is about unleashing the next level.”

April 26 isn’t just a fight — it’s a statement.

Polanco’s Veteran Test

Nicolas “La Pantera” Polanco (22-8-1, 13 KOs) isn’t flying in to play victim.

A rugged Dominican vet with real miles on the clock, Polanco hasn’t just fought. He’s survived.

Went unbeaten for five years early in his career.
Has only lost to world champs and real contenders.
And he’s dangerous if you don’t respect him.

Polanco’s not coming for a paycheck. He’s coming to wreck the party.

For Sylve, this is no tune-up.
It’s the kind of fight that either puts your career back on course — or blows it off the rails.

The Vargas Takeover

The Vargas Dynasty is rolling heavy into Georgia.

Amado “AFV” Vargas (12-0, 5 KOs) — middle son of two-time world champion Fernando Vargas — will face Bronx veteran Angel “El Gato” Luna (20-15-1, 11 KOs) in a ten-round featherweight bout.

Amado’s polished, fast, and slick. But Luna’s gritty. He’s taken prospects into deep water before. Real fight.

The Vargas brothers aren’t here to chase likes. They’re chasing belts.

Solid Fights All Night

There’s real depth on the undercard too:

  • Javon “Woodard” Campbell (13-2, 11 KOs) is back, taking on veteran spoiler Jayson Vélez (30-17-1, 21 KOs). Vélez may have seen better days, but he’s tricky when underestimated.

  • Light heavyweight Casey Dixon (5-0, 4 KOs) looks to stay perfect against Donnis Reed (5-18-1, 3 KOs). Expect fireworks early.

  • Amber “LIVE ONES” Summers faces Tarrethia Dixon (2-4, 2 KOs) in a women’s bantamweight scrap — six rounds that could turn nasty fast.

Sixteen bouts scheduled. Georgia’s getting a real night of fights.

Final Word

Is H2O still that next big thing, or just another hyped-up story?
Can Polanco pull off a veteran ambush and ruin the comeback parade?
Will Amado Vargas prove he’s more than just a famous name?

  1. “Georgia’s getting a real night of fights.” That sounds great and all but does anyone else find it amusing that they’re banking on one guy’s hype train? Let’s hope it doesn’t derail spectacularly! 😂🚂

  2. “This isn’t about bouncing back” — says who? If Sylve loses again, will he then bounce backward? Boxing is unpredictable, so all these statements mean nothing until the bell rings.

  3. *chuckles* I love how they say Sylve’s coming back smarter. What’s next? A boxing degree? 😂 Just punch harder and hope for the best!

  4. *sigh* Another hyped fighter who thinks he can just bounce back after a loss. Sylve better be careful; Polanco might surprise him if he underestimates him!

  5. Wow! I’m super excited for this fight! I think Sylve will come back stronger than ever, and I’m rooting for him all the way! Go get ’em champ! 💪🥊

  6. Honestly, this whole thing sounds overrated. H2O had one loss and everyone acts like it’s the end of his career? Give me a break! It’s just boxing, not a fairy tale.

  7. I can’t wait for the fight! H2O is going to show everyone what he’s made of. It’s about time we see real talent in the ring again. This is going to be epic! 🎉

    • Yeah, but don’t forget Polanco is no pushover. Just because H2O had a few knockouts doesn’t mean he will win easily. It could be a tough night for him.
