Avious Griffin signs with MVP, bringing knockout power and prison-scarred grit to Jake Paul’s roster

Undefeated welterweight Avious “Tha Underdog” Griffin (17-0, 16 KOs) has signed with Most Valuable Promotions, joining a crowded but growing roster of fighters under Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian’s DAZN-backed banner. The 31-year-old Chattanooga native brings a violent 94% KO rate, a tragic backstory, and one hell of a chip on his shoulder.

The signing was announced Tuesday, and Griffin becomes the first serious male welterweight prospect under the MVP flag. He’s also one of the few with a real shot at breaking through.

Another “Underdog” with knockout power — but is MVP ready for real fighters?

Griffin isn’t just some feel-good signing. He’s a real threat at 147. In February, he steamrolled Jose Luis Sanchez at Sony Hall to grab the vacant WBC USA welterweight belt. He’s trained by BoMac and conditioned by Larry Wade. Translation: the man’s not being brought along slowly — he’s trying to leapfrog the hype jobs.

But this move raises questions: MVP is packed with influencers, women’s champs, and crossover stars — but Griffin’s the first raw-boned knockout machine they’ve taken on in the men’s welterweight division. Can the Jake Paul circus handle a real fighter with real title ambitions? Or is this just branding exercise no. 44?

Griffin’s backstory reads like a boxing movie: introduced to the sport by his dad, who died just before Avious’ pro debut. Then a wrongful murder conviction. Eleven months locked up. Cleared. Came back swinging. Since then? Ten straight knockouts.

MVP makes noise — now let’s see if they back the promise with matchups

Jake Paul called Griffin “an exceptional talent” with “global star” potential. Nice words. But they better mean more than buzz. If MVP actually wants to build a title threat, Griffin can’t get buried in showcase cards between influencer fluff and model walkouts.

Griffin’s career needs activity, opponents that punch back, and visibility beyond TikTok edits. The man wants a world title — not YouTube clout. We’ll know soon if MVP is serious or if Griffin’s just another name on a flashy poster.

    • @Clark Dominic ur sarcasm aside…his story real an messed up man…not jus marketing trickery like u sayin 👎

  4. ‘Cording to recent stat dat say KO ratio over 90% usualy indicate early-career mismatches, so let us no get too hype yet. BoMac training is legit tho, so mayb dis guy break normz an go elite if promotors invest corectly.

  5. Why do ppl keep givin credit to Jake Paul like he sum big boxing savior? 🥴 MVP is all about flash and tiktoks. Griffin shoulda signed with Top Rank or PBC if he serious bout titles smh.

    • ‘Xactly!! He gona get burried under them influencers with pink gloves doing dance intros… its sad bro 😩

  6. Wow i think this iz a huge step for tha MVP team 🎉. Like, Griffin not jus anotha pretty face or social media joke, he actuely has fists of THUNDER 💥. 16 KOs outta 17?? Dang. Hope he get reel fights & not jus stuck under da Jake Paul spotlight circus tings ya kno?

    • U rite Faye… but its risky too tho, MVP dont no how to deal wit a serious boxxer maybe they ruin him? 🤔 Hope not but we seen it before in other sportz 😞.
