Collazo and Fundora Smash Through Indio — Puerto Rico and Coachella Run the Night

By Tim Smith - September 21, 2025 - 13 comments

Golden Boy dropped a proper card in Indio, California on DAZN, and it had a bit of everything… early fireworks, towel-chucks, and champs reminding everyone who’s boss. Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo kept his straps safe, and Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora proved once again she’s no hype job but the real deal.

Collazo, Puerto Rico’s unified WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine minimumweight champ, ran through Jayson “Striker” Vayson. The Filipino came to scrap, had a crack with a sharp body shot, but by round seven his corner had seen enough. 1:41 on the clock, towel in, job done.

Collazo Talks Undisputed Dreams

“I had a good stoppage win, I was putting on the pressure,” Collazo said. “The seventh round was when we were just going to throw and throw, and we got the stoppage. He did surprise me; he caught me with a good body shot that I was able to recover from. I loved it though; he was a good fighter. Shoutout to Golden Boy, Miguel Cotto Promotions and DAZN. I believe that in 2026 I will be the next undisputed champion for Puerto Rico.”

Big words but he’s earned the right to chat. Undefeated, belts shining, and Puerto Rican fans behind him. Can’t argue with that… though we’ve heard lads promise the world before.

Fundora Owns Coachella, Again

In the co-main, Fundora wrecked Alexas Daria Kubicki in seven. From the first bell, the Canadian was second best. Fundora’s length, timing, and that nasty pressure made it look like target practice by mid-fight.

“It feels great to be back in Coachella and to return with a knockout win,” Fundora said. “I knew she would come at me 1,000 percent, but we came in at a million. I adjusted to her style, trusted my corner, and once they told me I had her hurt, I pressed. Honestly, I felt I hurt her from the very first punch. Now I’ll talk to my team — Oscar De La Hoya, Eric and Sampson — to see what’s next. I’m even considering moving down a division, but we’ll see.”

Elsewhere, Ruslan Abdullaev boxed smart to a points win, Joel Iriarte scored a nasty KO with a looping left, Grant Flores got rounds in, and Gael Cabrera delivered a brutal one-round body shot finish. Proper mix.

My take? Fundora’s the one. Collazo’s tidy, sure, but Gabriela looks like the breakout star here. She’s got that “I hurt you with the first punch” swagger, and that’s the sort of thing that sells, whether purists like it or not.

  1. That KO by Joel Iriarte was crazy but nobody talking about it cause they all focused on Collazo and Fundora 😤 Give credit where it’s due people!

  2. Honestly boxing ain’t what it used to be… too many belts and everyone calling themselves champion now 🙄 It’s confusing and makes it hard to care who wins what anymore.

  3. I don’t understand why people hype up Collazo so much when Fundora had the better fight all around. She was faster, stronger and looked more serious about hurting someone than he did 🥊.

  4. All these Golden Boy fights just feel like set-ups sometimes 😒 Like how come none of the underdogs ever win huh? It’s always the promoted fighters winning easy.

  5. People say Fundora should move down a weight class but I think that’s dumb. She dominating right now so why change anything? Stick to what’s working 💪.

  6. Fundora was too good for that Canadian girl, it wasn’t even fair. I don’t get why they put her in there if she didn’t stand no chance from the start 🤔.

  7. I think Collazo is not as good as everyone says. Sure he won, but the guy he fought wasn’t even that strong. If he wants to be undisputed, fight someone real first.
