Cruiserweight Chaos: Rozicki Injured, WBC Orders Jack vs. Mikaelyan Rematch, Interim Title Fight Set for June 28

Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki (20-1-1, 19 KOs) just can’t catch a break. After two title fights collapsed due to opponent changes, Rozicki finally landed his long-awaited WBC world title shot against Badou Jack—only to tear his bicep weeks before fight night. Now he’s out, again, watching the chaos unfold from the sidelines while others leapfrog into his spot.

WBC moves on: rematch ordered, Rozicki left waiting (again)

Rozicki was the WBC’s No. 1 cruiserweight challenger for two years. First, Noel Mikaelyan bailed. Then Jack entered the picture. Rozicki got the call, signed the contract—and tore his arm. Mikaelyan stepped in on May 3 in Saudi Arabia and dropped a highly controversial decision to Jack, one that’s now triggered a full-blown do-over.

The WBC confirmed Jack must rematch Mikaelyan next. They’ve got until July 1 to negotiate or it goes to purse bid.

Rozicki? He’s now back in medical purgatory. The WBC has requested documentation on the injury and timeline. Until that clears, he’s on the shelf watching other men fight for the title he’s chased for years.

Interim belt in play: Pascal vs. Cieslak, winner must face Peralta

While Jack and Mikaelyan sort things out, another messy situation unfolds below. Jean Pascal (somehow ranked No. 10) will face Poland’s Michal Cieslak (#5) for the Interim title on June 28. The winner is immediately obligated to face Yamil Peralta (#3), the WBC Silver champ.

Yes, that’s three different names circling Rozicki’s belt, none of them are him.

Rozicki’s promoter Dan Otter remains defiant. “He wants that green belt and we’re confident he’ll win it—whoever it is.” Rozicki himself said he’s already back training, claiming, “I’d fight tomorrow, but the doctors say wait a couple more months.”

  1. ‘He wants that green belt’ yea well so do ten other guys 🌍🥊 but only difference is Roziki earned it more than most. He waited, fought hard, got injured being active not lazy – now hes punished?? Its backward system truly

  2. ‘Medical purgatory’ lol what does that mean even 😂 either he in or out! But honestly dis guy been waitn since forever nd keep gettin skipped over like someones tryin to erase him on pourpose… Its a title belt not musical chairs!!

  3. “Id fight tomorrow” says Rozicki an yet still sidelined… doctors always say wait but champ gota take risks 💥 if he ready let him go! Jack vs Mikaelyan again is useless cause first one was so dumbed down anyway no one won clean.

  4. Roziki keep trainin hard and gets no fight, and now medical papers? Man got surgery thats all the proof u need! Why they need ‘documents’? U think he faked it? Real fighters dont fake 💪 Give him his damn shot already!

  5. Look, sport is about fairnes and compotition but this WBC stuff look fishy 😒 Rozicki trained, signed contract, and boom injury. Sad but real. Still, a top rank guy shuldnt be pushd aside with no plan. They shuld at least say he gets next or somethin.

  6. I dont even kno how come Pascal get to fight for INTERIM when he rank TENTH? 🤯 Like what even the point of rankins if they just ignorring them. Rozicki shuld be in that spot since Jack-Mikaelyan was his orignal matchup. WBC is a joke frfr

  7. It totaly unfair that Rozicki keep gettin the short stick 😤. He been #1 for YEARs an then evertime theres a fight somethin go wrong. If WBC care so much bout ranking then why he not fightin first? Is like they punishin him for gettin hurt, which is not he’s fault!!
