Cruz vs. Fierro II, Figueroa vs. Gonzalez join July 19 card — all-Mexican chaos and featherweight redemption collide under Vegas lights

By Tim Smith - June 5, 2025 - 9 comments

Boxing fans get a double serving of fire on Saturday, July 19 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, as Isaac Cruz rematches Angel Fierro in a 12-round super lightweight war, and Brandon Figueroa meets Joet Gonzalez in a 10-round featherweight scrap with title implications. The stacked card streams live on Prime Video (7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 a.m. UK) as part of a brutal night headlined by Pacquiao vs. Barrios and Fundora vs. Tszyu II.

Two rematches. Four action-first fighters. No dancing. No pity. Just punishment.

Cruz wants a cleaner beatdown — Fierro says he got robbed last time

Their first fight was Mexican mayhem—10 rounds, 1,400 punches, and razor-thin momentum shifts. Cruz (27-3-1, 18 KOs) walked away with the win, but even he knows it was close. “I can do even better this time,” he said. He’s already a world champ after blasting Rolly Romero in March. Now he’s trying to silence any Fierro controversy once and for all.

Fierro (22-3-2, 17 KOs) doesn’t think this is unfinished business. He thinks he won. He’s coming in hotter, more pissed off, and with something to prove. “I feel that I beat ‘Pitbull’ in the first fight and I’m gonna prove it the second time around.”

Forget titles. This is about pride and pain. Both guys want the last word—and they’re willing to bleed for it.

Figueroa and Gonzalez fight for career survival at featherweight

Brandon Figueroa (25-2-1, 19 KOs) is back after a tough loss to Stephen Fulton Jr. in February, and he’s treating this one like a public apology. “I feel like I owe it to my fans after my last performance,” he said. He’s changed trainers, shifted camps to LA, and promises to bring chaos.

Joet Gonzalez (27-4, 15 KOs) isn’t here to play stepping stone. Fresh off a win over Arnold Khegai, he wants another crack at a belt. But after three failed title bids, this is do-or-die. He’s gritty. He’s durable. And he’s not afraid to wade into the fire.

This isn’t about titles—yet. This is about earning one last shot before the door closes. Neither man can afford to lose. That’s where the real tension lives.

  1. ‘No dancing no pity’ sound cool until someone gets knocked out in round two 😂 I want blood but I also want fights to be competitive not just wild swinging.

  2. Honestly Joet Gonzalez should’ve already retired after all them title fails 😒 this his last shot and I doubt he pull it off.

    • That’s harsh Jodie but kinda true lol. Dude always gets close but never wins when it matter most.

    • @Jodie91 Maybe you right but Joet tough as nails tho. If anyone deserve one last chance it’s him 🔥

  3. People acting like Cruz can’t lose but I seen him struggle before. He not untouchable and if Fierro come in angry like he say, Cruz might not survive that smoke 😤

  4. All these fights sound crazy but honestly I think Figueroa is washed up now. After Fulton beat him he ain’t been the same, changing trainers don’t always fix stuff.

    • Nah man, Figueroa still got fire. You acting like one L means he done forever. He gonna come back and smash Joet this time 💪

    • I agree with Rbailey. Once a fighter starts switching camps too much, it mean they confused and desperate.

  5. I don’t get how people keep sayin Cruz beat Fierro fair. If you watch the first fight, Fierro landed more clean shots. They just gave it to Cruz cuz he more famous 🤷‍♀️
