Damian Knyba Promises to “Show Who’s Really Polish” in Brooklyn Showdown

You can feel it already — that buzz before a fight that’s going to get ugly.
Damian Knyba isn’t coming to dance or charm. The unbeaten 6’7” Polish heavyweight (16-0, 10 KOs) is coming to make a mess of Joey Dawejko inside Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday, October 18, at Danny Garcia’s “Farewell to Brooklyn” show.

And Knyba’s not hiding behind PR talk either. He’s talking like a man who means it.

“I’m going to prove who’s really from Poland,” Knyba growled. “I know my people will be there. I’m gonna show them I’m the next Polish champion. I’ll make sure nobody forgets it.”

This isn’t just about winning. It’s about ownership — of the flag, of the crowd, of the division.

Bad Blood Under the Lights

Dawejko’s no fool. He’s short, stocky, and hits like he’s swinging a manhole cover. But Knyba’s been crushing fellow Poles all year — first Andrzej Wawrzyk, then Marcin Siwy — and he’s licking his lips at the chance to make it three-for-three.

“Joey’s gonna try to come inside,” Knyba said. “That won’t happen. I’ll jab his head off, touch him to the body, and once he feels that right hand, he’ll start thinking about home.”

That’s not trash talk. That’s cold calculation. Knyba fights like he’s building a case — slow, systematic, and cruel.

Camp in Poland: All Punishment, No Hype

In Dzierzoniow, under Piotr Wilczewski, Knyba’s been locked in a brutal camp.
Six weeks of sparring, no distractions, no smiles. A full diet plan. Endless conditioning. The man’s living like a convict training for parole.

“I got great work with top cruiserweights and heavyweights,” he said. “Same body types, same rough style as Joey. We’re ready for everything.”

Now he’s landed in the States, looking sharp and dangerous. This isn’t a tourist trip. It’s a takeover.

“It’s a dream to fight at Barclays,” Knyba said. “But I’m not here for photos. I’m here to make noise — and to shut mouths.”

After Dawejko: Targets in Sight

Knyba’s not shy about what comes next either.
He wants the big boys — and he wants them soon.

“I’d like Adeleye. I’d like Johnny Fisher. England, America, doesn’t matter. I want them all,” he said. “But first, Dawejko. One step at a time.”

Behind the grin, there’s something darker — that rare mix of pride and spite that makes dangerous fighters. Knyba doesn’t just want to win — he wants to erase you.

  1. This fight feels more like Knyba trying to build a name off Joey. That’s weak. If you really great, fight someone in their prime, not someone smaller and older. Prove it first 👊

  2. Knyba talking like he owns the whole sport already. He ain’t done enough yet to be calling people out like Adeleye and Fisher. He need to earn it first with real fights.

  3. I don’t care if he trained in Poland or the moon, it’s the fight that counts. You can train all year but if you scared or not smart, you still lose. Knyba better chill.

    • Exactly. Training camps don’t win fights, fighters do. And Joey been in way more fights than Knyba. He got experience. That might be the difference when it gets rough.

    • True that. Knyba acting like he’s unbeatable cause he trained hard. But you don’t get points for training. You get points for punches. Joey gonna give him a real fight.

  4. All this talk about training camps and diets don’t matter if you can’t take a punch. Knyba never got hit clean by someone like Joey. We gonna see what happens then 🤔

    • Yeah! He might look good in training but the ring is another thing. Joey’s gonna test that chin. If he can’t take it, all that training’s a waste of time.

  5. Knyba saying he gonna jab Dawejko and make him think of home like he’s some machine. But boxing don’t work like that. One hit and the whole plan can fall apart 😂

    • For real. Plans sound good till you get punched in the mouth. Dawejko got power. He might be shorter but that makes him harder to hit sometimes. Knyba better be ready.

    • You right. All that talk about jabs and body shots is cool but once Dawejko get in close, it’s gonna be different. I bet he surprises everyone and lands something big.

  7. This Knyba guy acts like beating other Polish dudes makes him a king. That don’t mean nothing till he fights real champs. He’s just fighting short guys to look better than he is 🤷

    • Right! He ain’t fought nobody big yet. He just picking fights that make him look good. Real fighters go after the best, not guys they already know they can beat.

    • Y’all saying facts. He just trying to look tough but he ain’t proved it yet. Let him fight someone like Wilder or Ruiz, then we’ll talk. Right now he all mouth.

  8. I think Knyba is just talking big because he knows Dawejko is shorter. He feels safe cause of his height. But boxing ain’t about height only, it’s about heart too. Dawejko got it 💪

    • Exactly! Just cause Knyba’s taller don’t mean he’s better. Dawejko been in rough fights and knows how to handle himself. I bet he shocks everyone and knocks him down 😤
