Oscar Duarte vs Kenneth Sims Jr: Super Lightweight Showdown in Chicago, Live on DAZN

By Tim Smith - July 25, 2025 - 12 comments

Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte (29-2-1, 23 KOs) and hometown hero Kenneth “Bossman” Sims Jr. (22-2-1, 8 KOs) collide in a 12-round, make-or-break super lightweight fight at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago on Saturday, August 2, live worldwide on DAZN.

The winner moves within sight of a world title shot; the loser must rebuild from scratch. Stakes don’t get much higher.

Why Duarte’s pressure won’t quit

Duarte’s rise from Chihuahua’s gyms to a bronze at the World Youths forged relentless engine-room style. He’s stopped Joseph Diaz and Miguel Madueño under Robert Garcia’s watch, and he’s itching to prove it again. “I feel very happy and motivated to be the main event on August 2nd against Sims Jr.,” he said. As Oscar De La Hoya warned, “There’s nowhere to run or hide. Get ready for fireworks in this summer firecracker!”

Can Sims Jr. spoil the party in Chicago?

Sims Jr. boasts nine national amateur titles, a U.S. Trials bout and a pro upset of Elvis Rodriguez. Now ranked No. 4 by the WBA, he’s eager to mix slick boxing with hometown energy. “This fight is long overdue. I’m ready to put on a show for my Chicago fans. Headlining in my hometown is a dream come true,” he fired back. If Bossman controls the pace, Duarte’s forward march could hit the buffers.

  1. This whole card seems good but DAZN needs to stop putting these fights on so late for us on east coast 😤 I fall asleep before co-main even starts.

    • They do it for UK fans or whatever but it’s America first! Start these fights at normal time please 🙄

  2. ‘Sweet T’ Kalkreuth vs Hackett might be better than the main fight cause them cruiserweights throw bombs 💣💣. I bet that ends before round six.

    • ‘Sweet T’ ain’t even fought nobody yet tho, Hackett got better defense and will take him the distance.

  3. It’s dumb how people think being hometown means you gonna win 🤷‍♀️ Crowd don’t punch for you! If Duarte gets close enough it don’t matter where they fighting at!

  4. How is this fight make-or-break when both guys already lost before? If you lose again just keep fighting someone else 😂. They act like one loss ruins your life now.

  5. Prograis vs JoJo Diaz is the real fight to watch not this main event stuff 🙄. Them two got more experience and been in way tougher wars than Duarte and Sims ever had.

  6. Everybody hypin up Duarte like he some killer but Sims been fighting real talent too. Just cause he don’t knock people out don’t mean he weak. Y’all just like violence more than skill.

    • Skill or not, if you don’t hurt your opponent they just walk through you 😤. This ain’t chess it’s boxing bro.

  7. I think Duarte is gonna crush Sims Jr. because pressure always beats dancing around. People love to talk about ‘slick boxing’ but power wins fights 💥. You can’t win running backwards all night.

    • Nah man, you wrong. Sims Jr. can outbox him easy if he stays smart. Power ain’t everything, look at Mayweather, he won without knockouts 🧠.
