Fundora vs. Tszyu II: After blood, belts, and chaos—can Tszyu rewrite the ending or does Fundora double down?

By Tim Smith - June 5, 2025 - 11 comments

Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu run it back in a 12-round WBC super welterweight title rematch on Saturday, July 19 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, co-headlining alongside Pacquiao vs. Barrios, live on Prime Video (7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 a.m. UK).

Their first fight ended in blood, confusion, and controversy after Tszyu fought through a brutal head gash caused by an accidental Fundora elbow in round three. This time, both say they’re coming in clean, fully prepped—and looking to leave no doubts.

Fundora says he’s ready for violence — Tszyu says he’s ready for war

Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) enters this fight off a statement knockout of Chordale Booker. He’s already called it: “Fans should expect nothing but a very entertaining violent display.” The man isn’t shy. He’s 6’6″, throws 100 punches a round, and can box inside like he’s 5’8″. If he beats Tszyu again—clean—he’s the division’s face.

Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs) still thinks he got robbed by bad luck and worse circumstances. No camp. No notice. A gaping cut. He lost his belts, his momentum, and his aura. Now? He’s coming in with 12 full weeks to prep, a knockout win over Joey Spencer behind him, and zero excuses. “I can go through hell and come back on top,” he said. “This time, I’m ready.”

Stakes: no more excuses, no more escape routes

This is as make-or-break as it gets. If Fundora wins again, he stamps himself as the WBC king and starts angling for unifications with Murtazaliev, Charlo, or Crawford (yes, that Crawford). If Tszyu wins? He gets revenge, redemption, and that belt back on his waist.

But if Tszyu loses? That’s three losses in four fights. That’s the hype train off the rails. And Fundora? If he gets clipped or outworked, the whispers about his chin and ceiling get loud again.

They’re both all-action. They both have something to prove. No scorecards. No controversy. Someone needs to get shut down.

  1. Why people act like this gonna be war of century lol fundora good yeah but tszyu had real bad luck that night 🤕💉 head split open early an still went all roundz – that show he tough as nailz!! This time proper train up? its gona be big differnt story i bet all my betts on timbo 😎

  2. ‘M tellin ya’ll dis fight will be a bloody mess again!! 😤 They both swing crazy like windmills n no strategy jus hope punch land first LOL… Boxin ain’t what it use to be where’s da tactics?? Go watch old tapes learn sumthin!

    • @Bradley Scott Yeah but also fans want entertainin match not boring dance around.. These guys give dat🔥 So even if wild its still fun sport need that too!

    • @Martin Ellie okay but fun ain’t everythin we talking title fights here bruh 😂 can’t just throw hands n pray u win thats street fight energy lmao

  3. ‘Scuse me but i think neither of them top level like Terence crawfords 🥱 they both fun to watch sure but skillwise? lots holes! Defense sloppy, footworks slow compare to true elites of sport i mean comeon.. they just action guyz not champions who last many years like Mayweather did

  4. This match it gona tell the trueth about both these guys… Tszyu need prove that hes real champ material again not just hype from family name👊🏽and if Fundora win clean then okay maybe we look at him diffrrnt now, more respect deservd. But my thing is why always rematch when first one already done? Waste of event sometime.

    • @Thomas Holly You wrong cause the first one was messy! 😠 It end on blood and confushion nobody knew what going on, we need clear winner this time so rematch make sense totally

    • @Emily20 Nah bro rematches only needed if close or robberies that wasn’t robbery just bad luck. Boxing move forward not backward give us new faces instead reruns.

  5. So what? Tszyu cry about cut and no camp 🙄… real fighter figth under any condition. No excuse in boxing ring man get in there and do job! Fundora beat him fair and square last time – just cause hes tall don’t mean hes cheating lol. If Tim lose again it’s clear he not elite level like Charlo or Crawford.

  6. Fundora fight style is too danger for long term career… He tall but dont use his reach always going inside punch war🤯. That why people say his chin gonna crack eventualy, maybe this time. If Tszyu land clean more than few times it’s over for him. I not saying Fundora bad but he play with fire too much to be champ long time

  7. I dont think Fundora gonna make it this time, no way! Tszyu he got all the prep and his mental mind is stonger now💪. The last fight it was unlucky, not fair, an elbow? come on.. referee should stopped or atleast made a NC. This times he’s comming full loaded and I beleive he knock out Fundora if not early then later rounds. People forget how good Tszyu are when he health.
