Janibek Alimkhanuly: Kazakhstan’s Champion Returns Home

Janibek Alimkhanuly (16-0, 11 KOs) has dominated the middleweight division, dismantling opponents with his aggressive “Qazaq Style”. The 2016 Olympian claimed the WBO interim title by knocking out Danny Dignum in two rounds, then unified the WBO and IBF belts by demolishing Vincenzo Gualtieri in six.

Now, after stopping Andrei Mikhailovich in his last defense, Janibek is back in Kazakhstan for the first time since 2017.

“‘Qazaq Style’ is finally coming home. April 5 will be a memorable night as I defend my WBO and IBF world titles against a top opponent. Many fighters turned down this opportunity, so I credit Anauel for accepting the challenge. My goal is to become the undisputed champion, and Anauel is in my way. The fans in Kazakhstan and everyone watching worldwide will see something special.”

A dominant win here could put him on course for undisputed middleweight status.

Anauel Ngamissengue: The Unbeaten Challenger

Anauel Ngamissengue (14-0, 9 KOs) enters as the IBF’s No. 7-ranked contender. The 2016 Olympian has built his career in France, picking up solid wins, including a majority decision over Fiodor Czerkaszyn in August 2023.

Despite being the underdog, he believes he can shock the world.

“Thank you for this long-awaited opportunity. After almost a year of fighting for a chance, this is the most important moment of my career. I know I’m going into the lion’s den, but I thrive in situations like this. I respect Janibek and everything he’s achieved, but I’m coming to Kazakhstan to crash the party and show the world that I belong at the top. See you on April 5.”

Ngamissengue’s pressure and durability make him a potential upset threat, but he faces a hostile crowd and Kazakhstan’s biggest boxing star.

  1. The article clearly bias for Janibek, like they forget Ngamissengue is undefeated and train hard for this. It’s unfair to underestimate him just becaus he is not from Kazakhstan. Boxing is unpredictable.

  2. I dont think Janibek is as good as people say he is. Ngamissengue has not lost yet, he can win this fight easily. Just because Janibek is home dont mean he will win, it could be a upset.

  3. I don’t think Janibek is as good as everyone says. He’s only fighting because he can’t find tougher opponents. Ngamissengue might surprise him! Everyone is so sure about Janibek, but what if Anauel wins? It’s going to be a great fight and I hope people see that.
