Kambosos Jr Makes Super-Lightweight Debut in Sydney

George Kambosos Jr vs. Daud Yordan – Super-Lightweight Main Event

George Kambosos Jr. (21-3, 10 KOs) headlines a massive homecoming event as he steps up to super-lightweight (140 lbs) against former two-weight IBO world champion Daud Yordan (43-4, 31 KOs).

Kambosos is back in Sydney for the first time in eight years after making his name on the international stage with his 2021 victory over Teofimo Lopez to claim the IBF and WBO Lightweight Titles. He has since shared the ring with Devin Haney, Maxi Hughes, and Vasyl Lomachenko, but now looks to reinvent himself at 140 pounds.

George Kambosos Jr.:
“Moving up and having my 140-pound debut in front of my fans at a sold-out Sydney arena is the return I have always wanted. Expect fireworks.”

Indonesia’s Daud Yordan is an experienced veteran with 31 knockouts in 43 wins and has previously fought Anthony Crolla and Simpiwe Vetyeka.

Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment:
“This is a tremendous style matchup between two come-forward pressure fighters. Yordan is no stranger Down Under with three wins on Australian soil, but George is ready to unleash his warrior spirit once again in his junior welterweight debut.”

Co-Main Events: Women’s World Title Fights

Skye Nicolson vs. Tiara Brown – WBC Featherweight Title

WBC Featherweight Champion Skye Nicolson (12-0, 1 KO) makes her first homecoming title defense against undefeated American Tiara Brown (18-0, 11 KOs).

Nicolson successfully defended her belt in Saudi Arabia last year, but now faces her toughest challenger yet in Brown, a former police officer turned power puncher with a high knockout ratio.

Skye Nicolson:
“My opponent doesn’t believe I’m worthy of my title, but on March 22, she is going to eat her words as I silence the doubters all over again.”

Cherneka Johnson vs. Nina Hughes 2 – WBA Bantamweight Title Rematch

WBA Bantamweight Champion Cherneka Johnson (16-2, 6 KOs) faces former champion Nina Hughes (6-1, 2 KOs) in a highly anticipated rematch.

Their first fight ended in controversy, with Hughes originally announced as the winner before the ring announcer corrected himself to declare Johnson the victor.

Cherneka Johnson:
“I have no doubt in my mind that this will be a career-best, dominating performance.”

Nina Hughes:
“This time around, I’m not leaving anything to chance. I’m coming for my belt.”

Heavyweight Power: Teremoana Looks for KO No. 7

Teremoana Teremoana vs. TBD – Heavyweight Bout

Rising heavyweight knockout artist Teremoana Teremoana (6-0, 6 KOs) looks to continue his perfect KO streak.

The Olympian-turned-pro is one of Australia’s most promising heavyweight prospects and will be looking to make another statement win.

Teremoana Teremoana:
“If I can knock someone out in 10 seconds, I will. That’s what people want to see from heavyweight boxing, and that’s what I deliver.”

  1. Skye Nicolson’s title defense is gonna be a joke. Tiara Brown is undefeated and has knockout power! Nicolson thinks she can just walk in and defend her title? She’s in for a rude awakening when she loses.

  2. I don’t get why Kambosos is even fighthing Yordan. Like, he has lost so many times already. It’s not even fair to the fans who wanna see real competition. He should prove himself first before this match.

  3. I don’t understand why Kambosos is getting so much hype. He lost to top fighters and now he’s moving up a weight class? Just because he’s fighting in Sydney doesn’t mean he will win. Yordan has way more experience and power. This seems like a setup for Kambosos to look good in front of his fans, but I think he might get knocked out instead!
