Kim Clavel becomes new IBF world champion on Most Valuable Prospects 15 – Fight Results

Kim Clavel (22-2, 3 KOs) fought like a veteran who wasn’t about to waste a second chance. The Canadian star reclaimed a world title tonight, taking a unanimous decision (99-91, 98-92 x2) over Argentina’s Sol Cudos (10-1-2, 3 KOs) to become the new IBF mini flyweight champion at 105lbs. It was the main event of Most Valuable Prospects 15 Championship Edition at Montreal’s Théâtre St-Denis, streamed live on DAZN.

Clavel didn’t coast early. She worked behind a crisp jab, doubled to the body, and by the fifth round was bleeding from a cut over her right eye — yet she kept pressing. Cudos had moments, even landing a big hook in the seventh, but she couldn’t match Clavel’s work rate or accuracy. The home crowd roared “Let’s go Kim!” as she closed the fight strong. Afterward, Clavel credited “the sweat and tears of camp” and called Cudos “a tough opponent who came to win.”

Tamm Thibeault proves she’s levels above

In the co-main, two-time Olympian and amateur world champion Tamm Thibeault (4-0, 3 KOs) showed why she’s already ranked #1 with the IBF and WBA at middleweight. Fighting in Quebec for the first time as a pro, she demolished Italy’s Cristina Mazzotta (1-1) in just 54 seconds. A right-left combo crumpled Mazzotta and forced her corner to wave it off. “I wanted more rounds,” Thibeault told Ariel Helwani, “but full credit to her for stepping in.”

Nelvie Tiafack shows heavyweight menace early

German Olympian Nelvie Tiafack (2-0, 2 KOs) was ruthless in his North American debut, punishing Ramiro Robles (5-1, 3 KOs) until the San Diego fighter quit on his stool after four rounds. Tiafack slipped under shots, ripped heavy hooks and uppercuts, and never let Robles settle.

Montreal’s Mazlum Akdeniz (22-0, 9 KOs) stayed unbeaten too, flooring Anthony Soto (13-1-1) twice before a fourth-round stoppage. On the prelims, teen star Javon “Wanna” Walton (3-0-1, 1 KO) boxed smart to outpoint Anthony Mora (60-54 x3). Amanda Galle (12-0-1) outworked Alondra Hernandez for a wide decision, while Italy’s Federica Macrí upset MVP prospect Naomy Valle on points. Loick Lahaie (3-0) opened the show with a second-round TKO.

  1. Mazlum Akdeniz is overrated in my opinion. Just cause he knocked out a guy doesn’t mean he ready for big names yet. They need to stop protecting him with these easy fights.

    • ‘Xactly! These undefeated records are fake when all your opponents are cans with no defense! Put him against a real brawler and see how long he lasts!

    • ‘Course he’s gonna look good against Soto – dude got dropped twice before round four! That ain’t impressive at all if you know boxing even a little bit 🤦‍♂️

  2. Everyone saying Clavel dominated but I saw her bleeding bad and slowing down late in the fight. If Cudos had more power or experience, she could’ve taken over in the last rounds, just saying.

  3. I think Nelvie Tiafack is being hyped too early. Beating some guy who quits on the stool ain’t impressive to me. Let him fight someone who hits back and then we’ll see how good he is.

  4. Sol Cudos didn’t really try to win, she was just there surviving most rounds. If you go for a title fight, you gotta fight like your life depends on it or else what’s the point? 🤷

  5. I don’t get why everyone acting like Tamm Thibeault’s win means so much when her opponent only had one fight before this. They should match her with someone tough if they want us to care.

  6. Kim Clavel winning was no surprise to me. People always underestimate fighters who lost before, but that don’t mean they ain’t good. She fought smart and didn’t quit even with a cut, that’s real heart 💪

    • Yeah but Sol Cudos wasn’t even that aggressive. Kim had it easy cause the other girl didn’t push back enough. A real champ should be tested harder than that if you ask me.
