Vergil Ortiz Jr. is coming home to Fort Worth on Saturday, November 8, with Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin standing in his way. The main event is a 12-rounder for Ortiz’s WBC interim strap at super welterweight, streaming worldwide on DAZN from Dickies Arena. The card kicks off at 5 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. CT.
The undercard has some proper meat on it. Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield is back in front of his Texas crowd after blasting out Tevin Farmer in less than two minutes. This time he’s got a name across the ring: Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr., the former IBF champ who’s never turned down a hard night’s work. They meet in a 10-round lightweight fight that’s already got fans talking.
Schofield vs Diaz: A Clash of Eras in Texas
Schofield isn’t shy about his plans. “This fight with JoJo Diaz has been brewing for many years, and I’m excited to get into the ring and repeat what I did when I faced Tevin Farmer,” he said. He’s 19-0 with 13 knockouts, ranked No. 1 with the WBA, and climbing fast.
JoJo, never one to back down, fired back with his own take: “Every challenge is an opportunity. I’m ready to leave it all in the ring and showcase the hard work I’ve put in. Texas, get ready for a fight that electrifies.” He’s been in with Regis Prograis, Tevin Farmer, and a long list of names. Experience is his edge.
Heavyweights, Prospects, and Blood on the Line
Elsewhere on the bill, Houston’s Darius “DFG” Fulghum (14-1, 12 KOs) meets David “Dynamite” Stevens (15-2, 10 KOs) in a super middleweight scrap that could steal the show. Fulghum is coming off a war with Bektemir Melikuziev, while Stevens just banked a solid points win over Petr Khamukov.
The opener? A heavyweight shootout. Joshua “Rocket” Edwards (4-0, 4 KOs) puts his perfect record on the line against Vegas puncher Zeno Vooris (5-1, 5 KOs). With both men carrying knockout power, don’t blink when that bell rings.
Schofield’s Rise and Diaz’s Grind
Schofield’s story isn’t all knockouts and highlight reels. He and his father lived in a shelter before boxing turned things around. That edge shows in his style: fast, mean, and no-nonsense. He’s beaten Rene Giron, he’s floored doubters, and he’s hell-bent on a world title.
Diaz, meanwhile, has been proving himself for years. Olympian in 2012, IBF belt in 2020, and still swinging against the best. He’s got over 40 fights of grit behind him, and he isn’t here for a payday—he’s here to claw back into title contention.
As Oscar De La Hoya put it, “This will be an all-out Texas showdown featuring some of the sport’s top fighters, highlighted by the return of Floyd Schofield as he takes on a tremendous challenge against former world champion and veteran JoJo Diaz.”

`Rocket` Edwards only fought cans so far so this Vooris guy might be his first real test 🔥 Don’t act like being undefeated means something if your opponents all weak.
Diaz ain’t what he used to be and Schofield young and hungry 😤 It’s time for new blood to take over boxing and show them older fighters they can’t hang anymore.
@Adams Ruth JoJo still got more skill than Schofield ever seen before 🧠 Experience beats speed if you know how to use it right and Diaz do!
@Lucas Thomas Nah Lucas, fast hands beat slow brains every time 😂 Diaz too slow now, Schofield gonna run circles around him all night long.
People sleeping on David Stevens, but I think he more dangerous than Fulghum thinks. Just cause Fulghum had that war with Melikuziev don’t mean he unbeatable now. He might be worn down from that fight.
I think Ortiz gonna win easy cause Lubin always fold when the pressure get too much. He got power but his chin ain’t right and Ortiz is too strong. Ain’t no way Lubin last 12 rounds.
Nah man, you wrong. Lubin been getting better every fight and if he boxes smart, he can frustrate Ortiz. All Ortiz got is pressure, no plan B when it don’t work.
Ortiz is the real deal 💪 Lubin just talk a big game but when the bell rings, it’s over quick. I say round 5 knockout and everyone gonna see who’s boss.
I don’t see why people keep hyping up Schofield like he some legend already. Just because he knocked out Farmer quick don’t mean he ready for someone like JoJo. JoJo been in harder fights.
