Shakan Pitters and Brad “The Sting” Rea will clash for the vacant European light-heavyweight championship on Saturday, June 28, live worldwide on DAZN (7:00 p.m. local / 2:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. UK). The new five-fight card lands at Connexin Live Arena in Hull after GBM Sports was forced to relocate from Pearse Stadium in Galway, Ireland.
It’s a brutal opportunity. Whoever wins grabs a golden ticket to world level. Whoever loses? They get to watch from home like the rest of us.
Pitters and Rea both need it — but only one leaves relevant
Shakan Pitters is the former British champion who’s looking to reboot his stalled climb. Brad Rea’s a middleweight-turned-light-heavyweight trying to crash the big-boy party with one signature win. This one isn’t about belts — it’s about survival.
“These are two very hungry fighters,” said GBM Sports CEO Izzy Asif. “Winning this title is the key to big opportunities.” Translation: one of these guys might get a call from a world-level name next. The other will be chasing domestic rematches in leisure centres.
The winner gets relevance. The loser gets silence.
Undercard features Hughie Fury, McComb, and rising Dutch danger
Also on the bill: former heavyweight contender Hughie Fury, rising middleweight Shakiel Thompson, Irish southpaw Sean McComb, and Dutch puncher Gradus Kraus. Full undercard announcements drop this week — but the stakes are already set.
‘Loser gets silence’? That’s cold but also true in boxing I guess 😬 Still think it’s unfair cause sometimes you lose but still fight good. Not everybody needs to disappear after one L!
‘Golden ticket’ sounds nice but let’s be real, none of these fighters are beating the top guys out there today. They just selling dreams to get people watching on DAZN 📺
Pitters been around too long without getting better, and now people still saying he got a shot? Come on now 🤷♂️ If he was that good he’d already be world level by now.
They acting like winning this means you gonna be famous or something 😂 Just cause it’s on DAZN don’t make it world class. These guys fighting for leftovers not real titles.
Honestly, this whole event feels like a backup plan after moving it from Ireland. Now it’s in Hull and they trying to hype it up too much. Real boxing fans know this ain’t top level stuff.
To me, Brad Rea ain’t earned a shot at no European title. He just jumped to light-heavy like it’s easy. You can’t just switch divisions and expect to win titles like that.
I agree! Rea only looks good cause he beat some weak fighters before. This fight gon’ show the truth. Pitters been in bigger fights, even if he lost some.
I think this fight is gonna be overrated because both of them ain’t proven anything big yet. Pitters had his chance before and didn’t go far. Rea just moved up weight, that don’t mean he ready 💯.
