IBF world title on the line as Hitchins returns home to face dangerous Kambosos live on DAZN

It’s New York vs. Australia at Madison Square Garden as unbeaten IBF Junior-Welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) defends his belt for the first time against former unified lightweight king George Kambosos Jr. (22-3, 10 KOs) on Saturday, June 14. The fight headlines a Matchroom Boxing card streaming live worldwide on DAZN from The Theater at MSG.

Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.com.

Hitchins returns to NYC with a title—and something to prove

Fresh off his title-winning performance over Liam Paro in Puerto Rico last December, Hitchins makes his long-awaited homecoming in the Big Apple. The Brooklyn native has looked sharp in his last three fights, including a clean sweep of Jose Zepeda and a dominant final eliminator win against Gustavo Lemos. Now he takes on the highest-profile opponent of his career in Kambosos Jr.

Hitchins said very little during their intense face-off at MSG, but his body language said everything. He’s confident. He’s composed. And he’s ready to defend his turf.

Kambosos looks to reclaim glory in familiar territory

George Kambosos Jr. knows exactly what it takes to win at MSG. It’s where he shocked the boxing world by defeating Teofimo Lopez in 2021 to become unified lightweight champion. After a rough stretch against Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko, the Aussie rebounded with a win over Maxi Hughes and a tune-up stoppage of Jake Wyllie in March.

Kambosos is now aiming to become a two-weight world champion, and he’s not here to play nice. “The belt’s coming back with me,” he said at the media day. “That same energy I brought to Teofimo—I’m bringing it again.”

  2. ‘Return to MSG’ narratives often overblowned by promotors 😑 stylistic matchup clearly favor hitchens, footwork superior & jab control elite level already… kambosos thrives on chaos not discipline.
