Rolly Romero fires back: “I’m the face of boxing now!

Fresh off dragging Ryan Garcia through 12 rough rounds last Friday, WBA Welterweight Champion Rolly Romero was back on the mic in Los Angeles this week—and let’s just say he didn’t hold back. Romero, who now boasts titles at 135, 140, and 147 pounds, took a well-earned victory lap after his dominant performance. You might’ve thought Garcia would outgun him in NYC, but Rolly shut that down early with a brutal pair of left hooks in round two—and never looked back.

What’s Romero saying after crushing Garcia?

Romero’s message was simple: those two losses on his record? Irrelevant. “They haven’t derailed me from anything,” he said. “I’m not going away. These other guys are here for the money—I’m here for belts and legacy.”

And about that rematch talk? He’s open—but skeptical. “If Ryan wants it, sure. But I don’t know if he’s mentally ready. Plus, does anyone really care about seeing that again? He’s got obligations. He should honor them.”

Rolly made it clear he had Garcia’s number all night. “I knew exactly how he’d fight,” Romero said. “The second he threw a left hook—boom, he hit the canvas. After that? He didn’t even try it again. He fought to survive.”

Why is Rolly calling 147 his true division?

Romero didn’t mince words about where he belongs. “I was wasting my time at 135. Even 140 was a stopover. I’ve been meant for 147—and now I’m here,” he said. “You see me moving up and getting faster, stronger? Most guys slow down. Not me.”

And that jab to the body? Rolly swears by it. “That’s my money punch. I’ve dropped people with it. It breaks them down piece by piece.”

As for Garcia’s effort? Rolly gave him credit—barely. “That was a focused Ryan Garcia. He wasn’t clowning around this time. But it didn’t matter. I took everything he had and shut him down.”

What’s next for the self-declared face of boxing?

Romero’s feeling himself—and why wouldn’t he? “Anything about me being the face of boxing—I agree with it,” he said, deadpan. The man wants big names and bigger stages, and he’s already eyeing the division’s top dogs. Don’t expect him to take his foot off the gas.

  1. Haha oh yes rolly ‘knew everything’ about Ryan, psychic boxer alert 🔮 next time maybe predict lotto numbers too champ 🙄 he talk more than punch sometimes tho frfr lol 😂

  2. *Fun fact* Rolly’s jab to body not jus flashy its statistically efficacious—body shots weaken opponent oxygen intake by round five usualy 💡 so his claim ain’t hot air it’s science-based ish ✅📊

  3. ?why r we act like rolly did something brand new? He hit Garcia hard… ok cool? But how bout defense huh? He still wild swingy and clunky foots 😒 no polish just power 🙄

  4. I must respectfully disagree with Mr. Romero’s assertions; while his performance was certainly competent, the suggestion that he is now the face of boxing lacks empirical support given the sport’s current landscape.

    • @LeoYoung finally someone with a brain here 👏👏 everyone else acting like titles at multiple divisions automatically = legacy status smh
