Katie Taylor Reveals She Wants Croke Park Showdown Before Hanging Up the Gloves

Katie Taylor has finally spoken out since sealing her trilogy win over Amanda Serrano, and the Irish icon isn’t done yet. On Episode 2 of Matchroom Boxing’s revamped Flash Knockdown podcast, Taylor set her sights on one final dream — a homecoming at Croke Park.

The Trilogy That Cemented Her Place

“It was a great way to cap off the trilogy,” Taylor said on Flash Knockdown. “They have been three history making fights. I have the upmost respect for Amanda.”

Taylor was clear the third fight wasn’t another blood-and-guts war, but a showcase of her sharper boxing craft. “I knew I had the potential and ability to make it easier for myself, I’m so glad I showed that with my boxing skills. It wasn’t a war this time, I came out unscathed. My name will be embedded with Amanda’s forever.”

That kind of blunt self-assessment is exactly what has made Taylor different from the typical post-fight soundbites. It’s soldier talk — clear, efficient, and precise.

Croke Park or Bust?

As for the future, Taylor left little doubt where her heart lies: “The one fight I really, really want is at Croke Park. That would top off my career so well. There’s been so much talk over the past few years but I’m still clinging onto the hope that one day I can fight there, it would be the icing on the cake for me.”

That’s not just a throwaway line. It’s Taylor acknowledging her career’s final campaign. At 38, she’s fought the wars already. The Croke Park fight would be the parade ground send-off, the kind of moment her supporters have demanded for years. The only question is whether Matchroom and the Irish authorities finally make it happen or keep the stadium dream locked in committee rooms.

Taylor on Irish Title Fights and Future Talent

Taylor also gave her take on the upcoming Belfast showdown. “The first all-Irish World Title fight is amazing. The last fight ended so controversially, the clash of styles between [Lewis] Crocker and [Paddy] Donovan is very interesting. I can’t wait for it.”

And she wasn’t shy about naming the next star: “Tiah-Mai Ayton is a generational talent. In my opinion she will go on to become the greatest of all time. I think she is very, very special. I’ve never seen a female fighter like her before. This girl is very special.”

From a fighter who knows what greatness looks like, that’s no casual compliment.

  1. This whole thing smells like Netflix trying too hard to be ESPN or something 😂 Why not put money into better shows instead of pretending they good at sports now? Waste!

  2. ‘Women headlining boxing’ sounds cool but let’s be real — most folks watch Netflix for movies not punches. Putting it on here ain’t gonna make people care more about boxing.

    • @Charlotte12 That’s true, I only found out by accident from my homepage ad. Don’t think casual fans will sit thru press conferences and weigh-ins either 😅

  3. People acting like this fight gonna change history or something, but I bet after all that drama we still gonna get judges messing up or something shady happening like always 🙄.

  4. All this build up better be worth it because last time I watched one of these fights, they just danced around and hugged half the time 😤 Not real boxing if you ask me.

  5. It don’t make sense putting all these famous names on commentary when nobody really cares who talks during the fight anyway. Just let them punch and show the winner at the end.

  6. They trying to make it look big but it’s just two women punching each other. I don’t think that makes it some kind of history. Netflix should stick to movies and leave sports alone.

    • Exactly bro! They act like it’s the Super Bowl or something. Just cause it’s at MSG don’t mean it’s worth watching 🥱.

    • Y’all missing the point! It’s about showing women can headline too. Even if you don’t care, there’s lots of girls who love boxing that wanna see this happen 💪.

  7. I don’t get why Netflix is doing all this for a boxing match. It’s not like people even watch women fight like they do the men. Seems like a waste of time and money to me.
