Tszyu Back on Track With Ruthless TKO of Spencer

Tim Tszyu reminded the boxing world he’s far from finished.

After a turbulent 2024 that saw him drop two high-stakes fights, the former world champion roared back in front of his home fans at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre with a punishing fourth-round TKO over Joey Spencer.

Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs) took his time early, stalking and sizing Spencer up for two rounds. Then, in the third, the pressure kicked in—lead hooks, precise timing, and Spencer frozen in the headlights.

“I couldn’t take another loss,” Tszyu admitted. “There was no pressure… well, there was a bit of pressure.”

By round four, it was over. Spencer’s eye ballooned from the damage, and Tszyu unleashed 41 power punches, forcing Spencer’s corner to save him at 2:18.

“We took over the town and put on a show. I hope I taught people that if you go on the floor, you can always get back up and rise to the top.”

Post-fight, Tszyu called for a showdown with Keith Thurman, who recently knocked out Brock Jarvis in Sydney.

“Sign the contract, big boy. If the fans want it, let’s bring a mega-show to Australia.”

Talivaa Flattens Grach in Brutal Rematch

In a grudge match with real heat, Liam Talivaa (7-1, 3 KOs) avenged his 2023 KO loss to Brandon Grach (3-1, 2 KOs) in style—stopping him in round five of a heavyweight brawl.

Talivaa dropped Grach with a counter hook in round three, then punished him with more power shots. In round five, a savage combo ended the night at 1:08, sealing redemption.

“I came here to redeem myself and show the world who I am. Big up to Grach… he made my story even better.”

Saavedra Breaks Down Nielsen With Body Attack

Middleweight contender Endry Saavedra (17-1-1, 14 KOs) dominated Denmark’s Mikkel Nielsen (13-3, 5 KOs) with brutal body work en route to an eighth-round TKO.

The Venezuelan Olympian stunned Nielsen in round four with an uppercut, then slowly dismantled him. A right hook to the body in the eighth forced a knockdown, and a second wave of punishment ended the fight at 1:42.

“You have to break them down. I was smart in there tonight.”

Mazoudier Wins Aussie Title, Eyes Nikita Tszyu

Contender Koen Mazoudier (13-4-1, 5 KOs) put on a tenacious display to take the Australian Super Welterweight Title from Dan Hill (7-2, 3 KOs) in a toe-to-toe war.

Mazoudier dropped Hill in round three and outworked him the rest of the way, winning a clear decision: 100-89, 99-90, 98-91.

“Anytime, anywhere, anyone. I want the Nikita Tszyu rematch. I’m here to prove I’m world level.”

  1. ‘I hope I taught people that if you go on the floor, you can always get back up.’ Wow, thanks for the life lessons, Tim! Maybe next time try to teach us how not to get knocked down in the first place!

  2. ‘Oh wow, what a shocker! A boxer wins a match! Next thing you know, water will be wet!’ Honestly, can we stop acting like this win is some grand achievement? It’s just boxing folks.

  3. While some may say Tszyu’s victory proves he’s back, I argue that a single win doesn’t erase previous losses. Shouldn’t we wait to see if he can maintain this performance? One good fight doesn’t mean he’s invincible now.

  4. It’s interesting to see how Tszyu adjusted his strategy after the earlier losses. The boxing world should take note of his methodical approach against Spencer; it highlights the importance of timing and patience in fights.

  5. Honestly, Tszyu’s win was just lucky. Spencer looked like a deer caught in headlights, not impressive at all. All this talk about him being back is overrated. He lost two fights before this one, so let’s not celebrate too much.

  6. Wow, Tim Tszyu is back and he showed everyone how it’s done! His performance was just amazing and a true comeback story. I love how he kept his cool and took Spencer down. Can’t wait for the Thurman fight!

  7. Wow! Tim Tszyu is amazing! I love how he came back strong and showed everyone he is still a champion. The fight sounds so exciting! I can’t wait to see him fight again!
