Two unbeaten contenders. One shot at glory. Fabio Wardley and Justis Huni will clash on Saturday, June 7, at Portman Road Stadium in Ipswich for the Interim WBA World Heavyweight title after Jarrell Miller pulled out due to injury. The event is backed by both Queensberry and Matchroom, blending two promotional powerhouses for a heavyweight collision that could reshape the division.
Wardley confident power and IQ will flatten Huni
Fabio Wardley isn’t fazed by the change in opponent. He’s still fighting in his hometown, and he’s still promising the same result: knockout.
“A change of opponent, but same outcome,” said Wardley. “It’s No.1 vs. No.1, WBA vs. WBO—without the belt. The winner gets the shot. That’s what June 7 is about.”
Wardley dismissed the narrative that he’s just a power puncher. “If you think all I’ve got is power, it’s going to be a rough night for you. I’ve got IQ, I’ve got skill, and I’ve done my homework.”
He also reminded everyone what power alone can do. “Look at Wilder. If I have to, I’ll walk through fire, and you’ll be on the floor by the end of it.”
Huni calls this his “coming out party” and plans to wreck the Ipswich dream
Justis Huni isn’t here to play nice. The Aussie sees this fight as his world stage moment—and he doesn’t care that he’s stepping into enemy territory.
“This is my coming out party. What better way than in Wardley’s home town?” said Huni. “I’m bringing the upset. I tick all the boxes—speed, footwork, combinations. The only thing he’s got is power.”
Eddie Hearn compared this fight to AJ-Ruiz I, saying, “It’s six years to the day since Ruiz shocked the world. And now here we are. Another late change. Another bad style choice. It feels like déjà vu.”
Frank Warren called it a “real battle,” praising Huni’s amateur pedigree but backing his man. “This is going to be boxing at its best. The fans will see their man—Fabio—get through this and push for the full title.”
