Yoenli Hernández Headlines Fists of Fury 8 in Florida

Kris Lawrence’s Heavyweight Factory is back on Sunday, October 12, with the eighth Fists of Fury card taking over Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Florida. The spotlight? Former Cuban amateur ace Yoenli “Yoyo El Diablo” Hernández (8-0, 7 KOs) throws hands with Mexico’s rugged spoiler Carlos Mohamed Rodriguez (16-14-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round middleweight main event. Expect fireworks — Hernández has been flattening opponents and wants another scalp.

“Red Owl Boxing is proud to bring another stacked event to our fans, this time from Los Angeles,” said Gabriel Fanous. (kept original quotes) Actually, here it’s Kris Lawrence moving the needle: bringing the Cuban wave to Hollywood, FL. The stakes? Hernandez wants to keep his KO rep alive and move one step closer to world level. Rodriguez? He’s the guy promoters call when they need a live dog who won’t fold.

Martinez Rabi Brings Firepower, Trujillo Chases Another Belt

The co-main is nasty: Armando Martinez Rabi (16-0, 15 KOs), ranked WBA #4 and WBC #13, takes on Mexico’s Willmank Canonico Brito (13-8-2, 11 KOs) in a 10-round lightweight shootout. Martinez Rabi’s power is legit — 14 stoppages in 15 wins — and he’s been climbing fast after blitzing Albeiro Paredes in two rounds last July.

Heavyweight chaos hits too: Gustavo “The Cuban Assassin” Trujillo (8-0, 7 KOs) defends the WBO Latino Heavyweight title against battle-tested Juan Camilo Novoa (35-13-1, 32 KOs). Trujillo’s got that bare-knuckle killer vibe — 6’5”, dangerous early, and already a champ in another combat world.

Local Heavyweight Medina and Cuban Prospects Stack the Card

Hollywood’s own Lorenzo “Giant Killer” Medina (13-0, 11 KOs) faces Jardae Anderson (9-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-rounder with big prospect implications. More Cubans flood the show: Raynel Mederos (8-0, 2 KOs) battles Isidro Curiel (11-5-1, 6 KOs), while Aaron Aponte (12-3-1, 3 KOs) tests veteran Luis May (22-21-1, 8 KOs). Undefeated Neslan “Pitbull” Machado (20-0, 9 KOs) fights Diuhl Olguin (17-46-7, 10 KOs).

The undercard keeps pumping:

Evelyn Romo (2-0) vs Shawna Ormsby (0-4-1), 4 rounds, super flyweight

Andrew Garcia (1-0, 1 KO) vs Dominique McBride (pro debut), 4 rounds, super welterweight

Miguel Rosario Paredes (3-0, 2 KOs) vs Kadhim Alkhazaali (0-2), 4 rounds, lightweight

Carlos Velez (pro debut) vs Brandon Trollinger (0-1), 4 rounds, middleweight

Elliot Sven Taylor (1-0) vs Joaquin Lagree (pro debut), 4 rounds, light heavyweight

  1. Too many fights on this show feel like filler 😑 All those four-rounders with debuting boxers or fighters who never won make it feel cheap, not exciting like they trying to make it sound.

  2. I think Martinez Rabi got power yeah but until he faces somebody ranked higher than #13 WBC I won’t take him serious yet 😐 You can’t call yourself elite if you never been tested for real.

  3. “Fists of Fury” sounds cool but they gotta stop pretending like this some world class event 😆 Most these guys beating fighters with losing records. That’s not how you build respect in boxing.

    • That’s true! People keep falling for the name and posters, thinking it means high level fights when it’s more like practice matches that cost money to watch.

    • Still better than watching boring UFC cards where no one throws hands 😤 At least here someone getting knocked out even if it’s lopsided.

  4. Medina is fighting some guy with one loss but barely anyone knows either of them. If they both prospects then who cares? Ain’t no real belts involved so it don’t mean nothing yet in my opinion.

  5. This whole card look like it’s about padding records instead of real competition. They just lining up dudes to lose so the stars can keep looking perfect on paper 📄 Not how boxing should be.

  6. Trujillo being called the Cuban Assassin just sounds made up for hype 😒 I mean he only got eight fights and acting like he some legend already? Let him beat real heavyweights before we crown him.

  7. Honestly I think this event is overhyped. You got all these undefeated Cubans but they ain’t really fought nobody serious yet. If you fight someone with 40 losses what do you expect to happen?

    • Exactly! It’s like they just stacking wins for show. Real champions take on real challenges not guys who already been knocked out ten times. It’s not impressive to beat up journeymen.

    • Y’all missing the point, it’s entertainment and these knockouts sell tickets 🤷‍♂️ People wanna see someone get dropped, not a chess match in the ring.

  8. I don’t see why everyone acting like this is a big deal. These Cuban guys fighting people with way worse records. How that even fair? They picking easy fights just to look good, that’s not real boxing. 🤨
