Cuban power-puncher Yoenli Hernandez (7-0, 7 KOs) takes on veteran Kyrone Davis (19-3-1, 6 KOs) in a 10-round middleweight scrap on Saturday, May 31 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. The bout airs as part of a four-fight PBC Championship Boxing card live on Prime Video (8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT / 1:00 a.m. UK).
It’s a serious step up for Hernandez — one of Cuba’s new-school hitters trying to blow up the “slick but safe” stereotype of his countrymen. All knockouts. No tiptoe. No waiting.
Hernandez says forget the old Cuba — “I’m a risk taker”
Seven fights. Seven finishes. And now Hernandez, just 26, is on a mission to blow the doors off the middleweight division. “Nobody likes to take punches,” he said, “but I’m a risk taker.” That’s not the Cuban way of old. But it’s how this new crop rolls — Morrell, Cruz, and now Hernandez.
He made waves back in February by smashing Angel Ruiz in five rounds on Prime Video. And the prep since? Sparring with Canelo Alvarez. Real rounds. Real lessons. “Once you enter the gym, the only thing that matters is achieving your goals,” he recalled from Canelo’s advice. Now he’s carrying that into the toughest fight of his life.
Davis is no gatekeeper — he just beat an unbeaten and trains with Plant
Kyrone Davis is no tune-up. He just snapped Elijah Garcia’s unbeaten streak, and he trains under Stephen “Breadman” Edwards in the same gym as Caleb Plant. Davis knows what this is — a spotlight fight against a hot prospect. But he’s not playing the opponent.
Hernandez says he’s ready. Says he’s evolving. Says he’s about to show the world where he belongs. But Davis isn’t here to be a stepping stone — he’s here to slam the brakes.

Ohhh yea let me guess another ‘next big thing’ whos gonna get exposed by round tree 🙃 yall said same bout other Cubans now where they at huh?? This a re-run wit new actor lmao 🍿🍿😂😂.
’round tree’ 😂 you mean round three rite?? anyway u rite bro these dudes come n go quicker than my paycheck 💸
‘Exposed’ is tha word! All da flash no durabilty.. cant wait to see him fall flat tryna be Canelo Jr 😆
Ive been followin Yoenli since his debut and even tho he got power, he need more ring IQ man 😤 stop goin for knockout all time and learn how pace fights better bro fr fr.
Fascinating evolution of Cuban boxing culture in this narrative; clearly reflects a paradigmatic shift from defense-oriented tactics to aggressive engagement strategies reminiscent of early Mexican styles, albeit modified through Afro-Cuban athleticism.
In my openion the figth will b very boring… they hyping it up like its Ali vs Fraiser but come on bro its just another payday fight for both 🤷♂️ probly end in round six or sumthin 💤.
‘Risk taker’ huh? 🤡 More like ‘brain taker’, cuz that style aint gone last long lol if you get hit so much your career go bye-bye fast ✌️ another brawler with no plan smh.
I think the article missed the big point: Davis is super underrate. People keep talkin bout Hernandez knockouts but Davis beat an undefeated guy and trains with elite ppl. Don’t write him off too fast.
Exactly Ruth!! Like, folks don’t undrstand how hard it is to snap a unbeaten streak. That mental game strong 💪 Davis might shock em all.
‘Underrate’ u say?? Maybe becuz he dont do all them flashy KOz lol ppl only care about who hit hardest not who smarter 🙄
Woww this ganna be sooooo good!! 😍 I alwyas love them big KO guyz and Yoenli is like WOOOSH BANG evrytime! He dont run like others, just smash 💥💥. Cant waitttttt Saturday gon be 🔥🔥🔥!!!
Yeh but does he got real skillz tho? Punching hard is gud but what if Davis just boxes smart??🤔 i hope is not just hype again lol
