Deontay Wilder’s comeback kicks off Friday, June 27 in Wichita, Kansas — live on PPV.com — where he faces Tyrrell Herndon in a heavyweight fight that’s more about resurrection than rankings. Main card starts at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT / 1 AM UK, with Wilder’s ring walk expected around 11 PM ET / 8 PM PT / 4 AM UK (Saturday).

After back-to-back losses, most guys quietly fade out. Not Wilder. He’s doubling down on everything that made him controversial, compelling, and, frankly, unhinged.

Wilder’s back — and he still wants a body

In case anyone thought he mellowed out after getting tamed by Fury and outboxed by Parker, think again. When asked if he still stands by his infamous “I want a body on my record” line, Wilder didn’t flinch:

“I don’t take back what I said… People on the outside looking in call this a sport, but I want to ask: why do you call it a sport?”

This is classic Wilder — leaning all the way into war talk.

“So what do you call it when two men are at war with each other? In the streets, you can have two guns — may the best man win. May your accuracy beat mine. But do people consider gun violence a sport?”

This isn’t a media-friendly redemption arc. He’s not playing PR games. Wilder still sees boxing as war, not competition — and he’s not here to play nice about it.

Oh, and his camp motto for this fight?

“I don’t practice to play. I train to kill.”

Whether you love it or hate it, at least it’s honest. He’s not interested in rebranding. He’s here to erase two losses and remind people why his right hand used to terrify the division.

Wilder doesn’t want to ease back in. He wants destruction. He wants war. Whether that gets him a win or another disaster is anyone’s guess — but if he really means what he says, someone’s going to sleep on June 27. The only question is who.

  1. Boxing should be about skill not talking crazy stuff about killing people 🤯! Wilder used to be exciting but now he sound more dangerous than talented.

    • He ain’t even scary anymore cause real dangerous fighters don’t need big mouths—they let their fists do the talking 👊!

  2. ‘Train to kill’ is not something a boxer should be saying! That kind of thinking gonna get someone hurt for real or worse 😡! They need rules for what fighters allowed to say before fights.

    • ‘Kill’ talk makes boxing look bad in front of everyone watching worldwide. Sponsors won’t wanna stay if fighters keep acting violent like that 😤!

  3. This fight ain’t fair anyway cause who even is Tyrrell Herndon? Never heard of him before now 😒. Wilder picking easy people just so he look good again after getting whooped last time.

  4. I think Wilder just says this stuff cause he want attention again since people forgot him after losing fights. He trying to act crazy on purpose but it don’t work anymore when you already got beat bad twice.

  5. Wilder talking all this mess about killing and war, but he got beat twice in a row. If you so deadly then why you lose back-to-back fights? I think it’s all talk now.

    • Exactly! He keep running his mouth but can’t back it up anymore. This ain’t 2015, dude ain’t scary no more 🥊.

    • True man, if he’s so tough then why did Fury break him down so easy? You can talk tough or fight tough, not both if you can’t win.

  6. Wilder saying boxing is like gun violence just makes no sense 🤷‍♀️. It’s a sport with rules and gloves, not pistols on the street. He’s sounding more crazy than serious, and I think he lost his mind after losing twice.

  7. I don’t get why people still cheer for Wilder when he talks like that. Saying he wants to kill somebody in the ring? That ain’t what sports is about. It’s not right, and it sends a bad message to kids who look up to fighters like him. He needs to calm down and act like a professional.
